Sochi cracks down on illegal fireworks sales ahead of New Year’s Eve
Fireworks sales have started in Sochi ahead of New Year celebrations. To prevent illegal trading, local authorities have launched daily checks on vendors. One case of unauthorised sales has already been uncovered.
A 32-year-old man was detained in January 2023 for selling fireworks in an unauthorised location. Administrative reports were filed following the discovery. Officials are now monitoring sales points more closely to stop further violations.
Authorities are also working with vendors to enforce age restrictions. Fireworks must not be sold to anyone under 16. Additionally, entertainment venues are being urged to reconsider hosting fireworks displays due to safety concerns.
The crackdown aims to reduce risks linked to illegal fireworks trade. Stricter monitoring and vendor cooperation are expected to improve safety during the holiday season. Those caught breaking the rules will face administrative penalties.
