Software AG slashes 150 jobs in radical post-acquisition overhaul

Software AG, a seasoned player in system integration, is undergoing a significant transformation following its acquisition by Silver Lake. The company, established in 1969, has divested key assets and now plans to reduce around 150 jobs by mid-2026. The restructuring will leave only two divisions—Adabas & Natural and Aris—operating as independent units under the new Software GmbH.

Software AG began as a prominent name in enterprise software, renowned for products like Adabas, Natural, WebMethods, and Aris. After its delisting from the stock exchange, the company was acquired by private equity firm Silver Lake. The dismantling process gained momentum in December 2023 when its integration platform, WebMethods, was sold to IBM for €2.13 billion.

The company's metamorphosis will see around 150 jobs eliminated by mid-2026. Only the Adabas & Natural and Aris divisions will remain, operating as fully autonomous entities. The legal challenge from shareholders adds further uncertainty to the company's future trajectory.
