Soldiers Build Obelisk to Honor 25 Years of City-Military Bond
A 2.8-meter-high obelisk now stands at Oberer Brühl in Villingen-Schwenningen, marking the 25th anniversary of partnership between the city and the Panzerpionierkompanie 550 (Armored Pioneer Company 550). It now occupies a public green space along Lina-Springmann-Straße, near the site of the former barracks, reinforcing the historical connection between the military unit and the city. The obelisk now stands as a tangible symbol of the enduring relationship between the 550th Armored Engineer Company and Villingen-Schwenningen. Its presence on Oberer Brühl offers a place for reflection and connection, honouring 25 years of shared history. The monument’s creation by the soldiers themselves underscores its personal and lasting value.
