Solingen City Phones Down for Major Upgrade Tuesday Night
Solingen city administration's telephone system will undergo a major upgrade this week, with some services temporarily unavailable. The modernization, part of a broader infrastructure overhaul, will take place overnight from Tuesday, November 4 to Wednesday, November 5, outside regular office hours to minimize disruption.
From 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday until 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, all municipal phone numbers starting with '290' will be unavailable. However, emergency call forwarding to the fire service will remain operational at all times, ensuring public safety.
The city administration has assured residents that mobile phones and email services, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, will not be affected during the upgrade. Additional maintenance work is planned in the coming months, with the city providing advance notice each time.
The city administration has not specified who is responsible for the technical modernization, but they have emphasized that the upgrade is necessary for improving the city's infrastructure. Residents are advised to plan accordingly and use alternative methods of communication, such as email, during the temporary phone outage.
