Solingen’s Cross-Party Push to Create Jobs for Benefit Recipients Gains Momentum
A new proposal to create jobs for social security beneficiaries in Solingen has gained cross-party interest. CDU councillor Rafael Sarlak welcomed the SPD’s initiative, calling it a constructive move. Discussions on the proposal will take place in the Social Affairs Committee on 2 December 2025.
The SPD faction in Solingen put forward the motion, titled Work Opportunities for Social Security Beneficiaries. Their proposal focuses on tailored employment for those receiving specific social security support. The CDU, meanwhile, has traditionally favoured broader labour market policies and integration through existing programmes.
The SPD’s proposal will now be examined in detail by the committee. If approved, it could lead to new job opportunities for social security beneficiaries in Solingen. The outcome of the discussions will determine whether the city adopts a more targeted approach to employment support.
