Soltau’s Mayor Olaf Klang Announces Shock Resignation by Year’s End
Mayor Olaf Klang will leave his position in Soltau by the end of 2024. He made the surprise announcement during a city council meeting, stating he would step down on December 31. His decision has left local politicians questioning the reasons behind it.
Klang took office on November 1, 2021, after winning the 2021 local elections with 54.64% of the vote. His priorities included revitalising Soltau’s city centre and encouraging greater citizen involvement in politics.
Klang’s departure will take effect at the end of December 2024. The city council now faces the task of understanding the reasons behind his decision. His exit leaves Soltau’s political future uncertain, with questions remaining about potential administrative or political conflicts.
