Soltau’s mayoral runoff set for March 9 as CDU’s Tauschwitz wins Bundestag seat
In the upcoming mayoral election in Soltau, Birhat Kacar (SPD) and Karsten Brockmann (Citizen's Union) will face off in a runoff on Sunday, March 9. Kacar won the first round, while Brockmann secured his spot through the second round of voting. Meanwhile, Vivian Tauschwitz, a 30-year-old from Bispingen, has secured a seat in the Bundestag via the CDU state list.
Tauschwitz, who is 30 years old and hails from Bispingen, will represent constituency 35 Rotenburg I - Heidekreis alongside Lars Klingbeil (SPD) in the next legislative period. She managed to secure the 10th place on the Union's state list, demonstrating her strong support within the party.
In the mayoral race, Kacar, who is running for the SPD, emerged victorious in the first round. However, he will now compete in a runoff against Brockmann, who secured his spot through the second round of voting. The runoff is scheduled for March 9, with both candidates vying for the mayoral position in Soltau.
