Sono Motors Rebrands as SonoSolar, Focuses on Solar Mobility
Sono Motors, a German automaker, has announced a significant rebranding. Its subsidiary, Sono Motors GmbH, will now operate as SonoSolar, reflecting the company's growing focus on solar technology for mobility.
SonoSolar will continue to be legally owned by the Sono Group but will appear as SonoSolar in the market. The rebranding comes as the company shifts its business model to manufacturer integration of solar systems and retrofitting for fleets.
Georg Zurmühl, the new Head of Commercial at SonoSolar, explained that the change signifies the company's evolution. 'SonoSolar' is intended to mark Sono Motors' position as a leading supplier of solar elements for commercial vehicles. The company aims to reduce emissions and lower total operating costs while increasing energy independence.
SonoSolar has received substantial funding from the EU Commission in 2023 to support its decarbonization efforts. The company will focus exclusively on solar technology for mobility, developing and delivering solar systems for various vehicle categories. Notably, Sono Motors' bus solar kit was officially approved at the beginning of this year.
Sono Motors' rebranding to SonoSolar signals a new era for the company, focusing on solar technology for mobility. With significant EU funding and a successful bus solar kit, SonoSolar is poised to make a significant impact in the automotive industry.
