SONORO GOLD RESPONDS TO FALSE ALLEGATIONS REGARDING PERMIT FOR CERRO CALICHE PROJECT
Sonoro Gold Corp. has addressed recent false claims about its Cerro Caliche gold project in Mexico. The company confirmed that its Environmental Impact Statement (MIA) remains under review by the federal permitting authority, SEMARNAT. Officials have denied allegations that the permit was rejected or that key details were withheld.
The controversy began after reports suggested the MIA for Cerro Caliche had been denied. Sonoro Gold quickly clarified that no such decision had been made. The firm also rejected accusations of failing to disclose material information, stating it has followed all regulatory requirements.
SEMARNAT is currently assessing the project’s latest MIA, submitted in February 2025. This revised version replaced the original application from May 2022. Sonoro Gold continues to work closely with the agency as the review process moves forward. The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and compliance. All necessary updates on the Cerro Caliche project have been shared in line with regulatory timelines.
The Cerro Caliche project remains in the permitting phase, with SEMARNAT’s decision still pending. Sonoro Gold has maintained that its submissions meet all legal standards. The outcome of the review will determine the next steps for the gold development in Mexico.
