South Korean Presidential Guards Transferred Over Late-Night Drinking Breach
Three police officers from South Korea's presidential security team have been transferred after breaking their unit's rules on alcohol. The incident involved officers drinking late at night, leading to disciplinary action against them.
The officers, all members of the 22nd Police Security Unit under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, were punished for consuming alcohol after 9 p.m. The violation took place on February 28, prompting an internal review.
This marks the first such disciplinary case within the unit in the past three years. No other officers from the same division had faced transfers for similar misconduct during that period.
The transfers serve as a reminder of the strict conduct expected from officers in high-security roles. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has not announced further measures beyond the disciplinary action already taken.
