South Sudan appoints new telecom chief to boost digital connectivity
President Salva Kiir Mayardit has sworn in Tejwok Simon Ajak as the new Chairperson of South Sudan’s National Communication Authority (NCA). The ceremony marks the start of a push to strengthen the country’s telecommunications sector. Ajak brings years of experience in both civil aviation and digital services to the role.
Before leading the NCA, Ajak worked as Deputy Chairperson of e-services and held a position at the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority. His background also includes a long career in telecommunications, making him a key figure for the sector’s oversight.
Ajak’s leadership comes at a critical time for South Sudan’s telecom industry. The Board’s focus on regulation and connectivity is set to shape the country’s digital future. Their efforts will determine how quickly and effectively communication services reach more communities in South Africa and the surrounding regions.
