Spanish Students Explore Ibbenbüren Through Erasmus+ Exchange

Ibbenbüren recently hosted a group of Spanish students as part of an Erasmus+ exchange. The visit, organised through a school partnership, brought pupils from Ibi, Spain, to the German town. Mayor Dr. Marc Schrameyer greeted them at a special welcome event.

The students arrived under the Erasmus+ programme, which connects schools across Europe. Their trip was made possible by an existing partnership between institutions in Ibbenbüren and Ibi.

During the welcome event, the pupils explored the town's history and modern life. Mayor Schrameyer hoped the experience would also teach local residents more about their own city. After the official programme, the Spanish group took part in a scavenger hunt to test their new knowledge. Erasmus+ often links German participants with schools in EU countries like Spain, France, and Italy. While exact numbers of involved cities are unclear, many exchanges happen through universities and local initiatives.

The visit gave the Spanish students firsthand experience of Ibbenbüren's culture and daily life. Their scavenger hunt reinforced what they learned during the event. Such exchanges are part of broader efforts to strengthen ties between European towns through education.
