SPD backs Martin Albinus for Wolfenbüttel’s 2026 district administrator race
The SPD in Wolfenbüttel has kicked off its 2026 local election campaign, nominating Martin Albinus as its candidate for district administrator. The party described the event as a 'celebration of democracy and unity'.
Martin Albinus, an experienced administrative professional and committed local politician, was voted in as the SPD's candidate with a resounding 99 percent approval at a party members’ meeting in Ohrum. Dr. Thorsten Kornblum, district SPD chair and Lord Mayor of Braunschweig, sent greetings to Albinus, highlighting his expertise and leadership skills. Olaf Lies, Minister-President and state SPD chair, also extended his greetings.
In his speech, Olaf Lies emphasized the importance of voluntary engagement in local elections. The SPD views Albinus as a strong candidate for the office of district administrator (Landrat) of Wolfenbüttel.
