SPD Solingen Elects Ernst Lauterjung as New Leader Amidst Criticism of CDU Mayor's Campaign
The SPD city council faction in Solingen has elected a new board, with Ernst Lauterjung returning as the leader. Lauterjung, who has experience navigating difficult majority situations, was elected after the previous leader, Iris Preuß-Buchholz, did not run again. The election comes amidst criticism from Lauterjung of the new CDU mayor Daniel Flemm's election campaign, which he described as 'populist'.

The board has been expanded to include younger voices, with Florian Pinnow and Natalie Schaffert joining.
