Sprinkles Cupcakes Shuts Down All Locations After 19 Years
Sprinkles Cupcakes, the renowned bakery chain famous for its premium cupcakes and innovative Cupcake ATM, has permanently closed all its locations. The final day of operation was Wednesday, signaling the end of an era for the brand that once spanned multiple US states. Founded in 2005 by Candace Nelson, Sprinkles Cupcakes swiftly grew into a nationwide favorite, expanding across Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and Washington, D.C., while also introducing the world's first Cupcake ATM. Nelson sold the business in 2012 and stepped away from operations entirely. Two years later, an unidentified private equity group assumed ownership. Despite its initial success, the company's latest owners have now decided to shut down permanently, as confirmed by Nelson herself. The closure affects customers in six states, bringing an abrupt end to a business that once revolutionized the cupcake industry. No plans for a revival or reopening have been announced.
