St. Ingbert's Josefstaler Straße Closed for Major Renovation Until Nov 14
St. Ingbert's Josefstaler Straße (L 244) is undergoing a major renovation by the Saarland State Road Construction Authority (LfS). The project, set to conclude on November 14, 2025, requires a full road closure and is being carried out in two phases. Locals are advised to plan alternative routes as detours are in place.
The first phase, between Brahmsstraße and In der Laabdell, is currently underway and will be paved on November 3. Until then, customers of Weidmann Bakery must park before the construction site and walk the remaining 150 meters. Locals can also access the bakery via Altenwalder Straße. The project includes making the pedestrian crossing barrier-free by lowering the curbs. Detours are in place via Sulzbach/Schnappach along L 125 and L 126 to Neuweiler, then L 250 to St. Ingbert, with the reverse route applying for the opposite direction.
Deputy Mayor Markus Schmitt, whose position in the city administration is unspecified, met with officials on-site to assess the situation. The full closure of the road and partial closure of sidewalks are unavoidable for safety reasons.
The second phase of the project, between In der Laabdell and the St. Ingbert town exit, will begin on November 4 and is expected to be completed by mid-November. The LfS urges locals to follow the detour signs and be patient during this necessary roadwork.
