St. Laurentius Daycare Gets a €3.8M Modern Makeover for Kids and Community

St. Laurentius Daycare Center in Mackenzell is set for a major transformation. The city of Warendorf is modernizing and expanding the kindergarten, with renovations expected to conclude in the coming weeks. The total estimated cost for the extension and renovation is around €3.8 million, making it a more cost-effective solution than building a new daycare of comparable size, which would cost approximately €5.6 million.

The daycare will receive an extension to accommodate four groups of children, all on one level and fully accessible. Each group room will have a dedicated activity space and its own restrooms, and a new 'mudroom' will be added. An elevator will be installed to ensure accessibility for all users.

The outdoor play area will be expanded to nearly 1,400 square meters. This will be achieved by relocating the old Kirchgässchen lane and incorporating the adjacent orchard meadow. The renovation will also make the upper-floor rooms multipurpose spaces available for local clubs in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The extension will add 370 square meters to the existing 510 square meters, totaling 880 square meters. Two of the four groups will be designed to accommodate children as young as one, providing flexibility for future adjustments.

The modernization and expansion of St. Laurentius Daycare Center will not only provide a better learning and play environment for the children but also offer additional community spaces for local clubs. The project is expected to be completed soon and will be a significant improvement over the existing facilities, all at a cost-effective price.
