Starnberg's vacant Naturkostinsel space nears a new chapter after two years
The former Naturkostinsel space in Starnberg has stood empty since its closure in early 2024. For nearly two years, no public updates were shared about its future—until now. The Kreissparkasse is actively searching for a long-term tenant to occupy the vacant premises.
In the meantime, the space briefly hosted a temporary 'pop-up ice cream shop' that proved popular with locals. Many customers called for it to stay, but the site's future remained uncertain.
Nearby, the *Eiswerkstatt* ice cream parlour faced its own challenges. Water damage in the screed flooring forced it to relocate for two months. The temporary location, though much larger, came with higher costs—more staff, increased rent, and greater overheads. Despite this, the shop held events like live music and political discussions during its short stay. Repairs have since been completed, allowing *Eiswerkstatt* to return to its original home. The team made small adjustments, such as swapping the positions of the cake and ice cream displays. As for the former *Naturkostinsel* site, the *Kreissparkasse* is reviewing multiple options. A concrete prospect has already shown interest in taking over the old Sparkasse branch at Wittelsbacherstraße, though no final decision has been made.
The Kreissparkasse continues to explore possibilities for the empty space. A permanent tenant could soon be confirmed, ending the uncertainty that has lingered since 2024. The outcome will shape the future of this central Starnberg location.
