Stella Plazibat Wins Legal Battle: City Must Reinstate or Create New Position
Stella Plazibat, a former newsreader, has won a legal battle against the city of Augsburg. The labor court ruled that her demotion was unjustified, and the city must reinstate her or create a new position matching her contract and salary.
Plazibat's journey began in 2023 when Mayor Eva Weber appointed her as her personal spokesperson. However, her fortunes changed when Raphael Brandmiller, a politically active figure and head of the Lehmbau group, hired Stefan Sieber into his group. Sieber was the former chief of staff of the mayor. Plazibat's relationship with Brandmiller was cited as the reason for her demotion.
Initially hired as a press spokesperson for the building department under Baureferent Gerd Merkle, Plazibat was later demoted and given a seemingly insignificant position in the same department. She was excluded from important meetings, according to her lawyer. Meanwhile, Anna Meuche took over as the new press spokesperson for the city of Buchholz, focusing on digital communication and social media management.
Plazibat remained silent for months after leaving her job at RT1 and Antenne Bayern. However, she decided to challenge her demotion in court. The court ruled in her favor, stating that her demotion was unjustified.
The city of Augsburg must now reinstate Stella Plazibat or create a new position for her, matching her previous contract and salary. This decision follows a labor court ruling that deemed her demotion unjustified. The city has been ordered to comply with the court's decision.
