Stellantis to Create 400 New Jobs in Italy, Boost Hybrid Fiat 500 Production

Stellantis, the multinational automotive giant, has confirmed plans to create 400 new jobs in Italy. The move comes as the company aims to boost production of a hybrid Fiat 500 at the Mirafiori plant in Turin, with CEO Antonio Filosa confirming the news. Meanwhile, assembly of the Jeep Compass will commence at the Melfi facility in southern Italy in the coming weeks.

The new jobs at Mirafiori will support the production of the hybrid Fiat 500, with Stellantis committing to these positions since CEO Antonio Filosa took charge in June. The company has been grappling with overcapacity in Europe, where Chinese automakers are making significant inroads with competitively priced vehicles. This has led to a worrying outlook for Europe, according to the FIM-CISL union, which discussed these concerns with Filosa and Stellantis' new Europe head, Emanuele Cappellano, on October 20, 2025, in Turin.

In a bid to secure its future in Italy, Stellantis has also announced plans to invest over €11 billion in the United States over the next four years. The company temporarily suspended production at two of its plants in Italy and France last month due to weak demand. However, new models of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are expected to help stabilize production at the Cassino plant in Italy.

Stellantis' plans to create 400 new jobs in Italy and invest heavily in the United States signal a commitment to growth and adaptation in the face of increasing competition. The company's efforts to boost production of the hybrid Fiat 500 and introduce new Alfa Romeo models aim to secure a stable future for its Italian operations.
