After Knife Attack: Suspect in Custody - Straubing knife attack suspect arrested after failed home robbery
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Straubing after a knife attack on an elderly couple in late January. The suspect allegedly demanded money while brandishing a weapon but fled empty-handed when a neighbour intervened. He now remains in pretrial detention as investigations continue.
The incident took place when an unknown assailant entered the couple's home and threatened them with a knife. He demanded cash before a 75-year-old neighbour and the couple's caregiver stepped in to stop him.
A struggle broke out, leaving both the neighbour and the caregiver with minor injuries. The attacker then ran off without taking any money. Police later received a tip from the public, leading to the arrest of the 27-year-old suspect. Authorities have not disclosed details on how they identified or located him in his living environment.
The arrested man is now being held in pretrial detention. The elderly couple and their caregiver were treated for minor injuries sustained during the confrontation. The investigation into the attack remains ongoing.
