Students honor family heroes at Nizhny Novgorod’s growing patriotic conference
The International Research and Practice Conference Our Heroes took place this week in Nizhny Novgorod. Organised at the I Am a Citizen and a Patriot! Resource Center, the event brought together students, educators, and international guests. For the first time, younger pupils joined in, sharing personal stories of family heroes from past wars.
The conference marked its third year, drawing over 120 participants from 20 schools across Nizhny Novgorod and the surrounding region. International attendees also joined via video link, expanding the event's reach beyond local borders. This year's edition was initiated by Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, with School No. 156 in Sormovo District serving as a key venue.
The event provided a platform for students to honour historical figures while connecting with peers from other cities and countries. Through research, personal stories, and interactive displays, participants engaged with the legacy of heroism. Organisers plan to continue the conference in future years, building on its growing participation.
