Subi Taba has won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Sahitya Samman for Best Fiction 2025. Her book, Tales from the Dawn-Lit Mountains, earned praise for its imaginative storytelling and cultural depth. The award highlights a significant achievement for literature from Northeast India.

The New Indian Express Group presented the honour, recognising Taba’s work for expanding the boundaries of Indian fiction. The jury commended the book’s ability to weave themes of memory, belonging, and resilience into its narratives. Set in Arunachal Pradesh, the collection of stories also explores loss and the enduring strength of tradition.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Taba on her success. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein echoed the sentiment, calling the award a proud moment for the state. He noted that it brings national attention to Arunachal Pradesh’s rich storytelling heritage and cultural identity. The book’s focus on preserving and renewing traditions through fiction resonated with readers and critics alike.
