Sudanese Man Jailed for Life Over 31-Year Kuwaiti Citizenship Fraud
A Sudanese man has been sentenced to life in prison after Kuwaiti authorities uncovered a decades-old Kuwaiti citizenship fraud. The case dates back to 1993, when the individual falsely obtained Kuwaiti nationality under false pretences. His deception was exposed in 2024, leading to legal action and the revocation of his Kuwaiti citizenship.
The man acquired Kuwaiti citizenship in 1993 under Article 3, claiming to be of 'unknown parentage'. This allowed him to bypass standard verification processes. For years, he worked at Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense before being dismissed for frequent absences from work.
The conviction marks the end of a long-running fraud that allowed the man to hold Kuwaiti citizenship for 31 years. His dismissal from the Ministry of Defense, departure from Kuwait, and eventual exposure led to both Kuwaiti citizenship revocation and imprisonment. No other cases of this nature have been publicly reported in 2024.
