Südzucker scraps dividend - Südzucker axes dividend for 2025/26 amid sugar market slump and write-downs
Südzucker Board Sees No Basis for Dividend Payment Amid Struggling Sugar Market—What This Means for the Annual General Meeting
The weak sugar market is taking a heavy toll on Südzucker. Shareholders in the Mannheim-based group will therefore receive no dividend for the current 2025/26 fiscal year. The executive board has decided to propose suspending profit distributions at the annual general meeting in July, the company announced on Tuesday.
Beyond the persistently difficult market conditions in its sugar segment, the group expects extraordinary write-downs on fixed assets totaling between €450 million and €550 million. According to the company, however, these will not affect its projected operating result. Given these financial burdens, Südzucker's board sees no grounds for paying a dividend. The share price plunged by more than six percent in response.
The fiscal year runs through the end of February, with the annual general meeting scheduled for July 16. Last year, Südzucker distributed a dividend of 20 cents per share.
