Sulzberg's 2026 local election to decide mayor and council on March 8
Sulzberg residents will head to the polls on March 8, 2026, to elect a new mayor and town council. Voting will take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., with preliminary results expected on election night.
The 2020 local elections saw Gerhard Frey win the mayoral race with 55.74% of the vote. This time, if no candidate secures over 50%, a runoff will follow on March 22.
The 2026 election will determine both the town's leadership and its council composition. In 2020, the Independent Voters took the largest share with 30.15%, followed closely by the CSU at 28.19%. The Moosbach Voters' Group secured 16.69%, while the Green Party won 11.75%. Smaller groups, including the Ottacker Electoral Alliance and Graben-Öschle-See Free Voters, gained 9.16% and 4.06% respectively.
Official results for the town council will be published once confirmed. Unlike previous years, details about the total number of council seats or current party distribution remain unavailable.
Voters will decide whether a single candidate wins outright or if a second round is needed. The last mayoral election in 2020 avoided a runoff, with Frey securing a clear majority in the first vote.
The election outcomes will shape Sulzberg's leadership and council for the coming years. Preliminary figures should emerge on election night, but final confirmation will take longer. A runoff, if required, will be held two weeks later on March 22.
