A 22-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man have been caught after stealing groceries worth around €35 from a supermarket in Greifswald. The pair allegedly assaulted a store detective before fleeing the scene, leading to a police manhunt.
The incident began when the two suspects took items from the supermarket without paying. As they attempted to leave, a 42-year-old store detective confronted them. The 31-year-old man then struck the detective in the chest, kicked at him, and made verbal threats. The woman joined him as they both fled.
Police launched a search and later apprehended the pair. The 22-year-old woman was processed and released, while the man remained in provisional custody. Authorities are now reviewing whether to pursue an arrest warrant for the 31-year-old suspect. The store detective suffered minor injuries during the confrontation.
The case will proceed based on today's decision regarding the arrest warrant. The 31-year-old suspect faces charges of robbery-theft and assault. Meanwhile, the woman has been released pending further investigation.
