Suspicious Berlin garage fire sparks arson investigation after three cars burn
A fire broke out in an underground parking garage in Charlottenburg early this morning. The blaze began at around 5:50 a.m. after a vehicle caught fire, alerting a nearby resident. Authorities have since launched an investigation into possible arson.
The incident started when a car ignited in the garage on Iburger Ufer. The flames quickly spread to two other vehicles and parts of the building's structure. A 59-year-old local spotted the fire and raised the alarm.
No injuries were reported, but the damaged cars were later impounded. The arson unit of the State Criminal Police Office has taken charge of the case. Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious, though no further updates have been released since May 5.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with arson not yet ruled out. The affected vehicles stay in police custody while inquiries continue. Authorities have not linked the incident to any other cases or developments.
