Sverdlovsk and China Launch New Era of Cultural and Economic Ties

A new chapter in regional cooperation has begun as the Sverdlovsk Regional Branch of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society (RCFS) was inaugurated in Yekaterinburg. The event, attended by key officials, signals a commitment to strengthen ties between Sverdlovsk Oblast and China's provinces.

The RCFS, established in 1957 to foster friendship between Russia and China, has now set its sights on the Middle Urals. The new branch aims to expand ties through cultural, educational, youth programs, and economic innovation cooperation.

The ceremony was graced by Vyacheslav Yarin, Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Sverdlovsk Oblast, and Wang Tong, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Yekaterinburg. The branch has already signed agreements with the Investment Promotion Agency and the Palace of Youth to boost business cooperation and develop an international educational track for children in the region.

While no sister city agreements between Sverdlovsk Oblast and Chinese provinces were found, the RCFS branch is focused on key priorities such as organizing cultural festivals, exhibitions, student exchanges, promoting Chinese language studies, and implementing joint scientific and business projects.

The establishment of the Sverdlovsk Regional Branch of the RCFS marks a significant step towards enhancing regional cooperation between Russia and China. With a focus on cultural exchange, education, and economic innovation, the branch is poised to strengthen the bond between Sverdlovsk Oblast and China's provinces.
