Sverdlovsk Oblast gears up for 2026 elections with digital reforms

Preparations for the 2026 elections in Sverdlovsk Oblast are now in full swing. Governor Denis Pasler has called for thorough planning to ensure smooth and transparent voting across the region. The upcoming polls will cover State Duma, regional parliament, and municipal seats, with new digital tools set to streamline the process for candidates and organisers alike.

Election commissions have started early training to handle the expanded use of electronic services. By 2026, candidates will be able to collect signatures via the Gosuslugi portal and open campaign accounts remotely. These changes aim to modernise procedures while maintaining security and legitimacy.

In-person workshops are currently being held for chairs of territorial election commissions. Governor Pasler stressed the region's strategic role and the need for flawless coordination among all involved. With 18 State Duma districts and multiple regional and municipal constituencies, organisers must account for urban centres like Yekaterinburg as well as industrial and administrative areas. The exact distribution of electoral districts for 2026 has yet to be finalised. However, officials are already aligning resources to prevent delays and ensure compliance with legal standards.

The 2026 elections will mark a shift toward greater digital integration in Sverdlovsk Oblast's voting system. Training for commission chairs and the rollout of new tools are designed to reduce paperwork and improve efficiency. Organisers remain focused on delivering a process that meets both legal requirements and public expectations.
