Sverdlovsk Oblast gears up for 2026 vote on urban renewal projects
Sverdlovsk Oblast is preparing for the 2026 nationwide vote on urban improvement projects. The initiative, part of the federal Comfortable Urban Environment programme, aims to transform public spaces across Russia. Volunteers are now being recruited to support the process and ensure local communities have a say in the changes.
The vote will run from April 21 to June 12, 2026, on a unified federal online platform. Residents will choose which public spaces in their area should be renovated in 2027. As of March 13, twelve cities and urban districts—including Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, and Kamensk-Uralsky—have already submitted their proposals for consideration.
Volunteers will play a key role in the project. Their tasks include informing locals about the voting process and helping them select renovation sites. Those who register on *Dobro.ru* will receive free training to prepare for their responsibilities. The *Comfortable Urban Environment* project falls under the broader *Infrastructure for Life* national initiative. Its goal is to speed up municipal development and create modern, functional spaces for leisure and tourism.
The success of Sverdlovsk Oblast's participation depends heavily on volunteer involvement. Registration remains open for those wanting to contribute to the 2026 vote. Once selected, the winning projects will move forward for renovation in 2027.
