Sverdlovsk Oblast launches bold new programs to support military veterans’ transition

Governor Denis Pasler has announced new efforts to support veterans of the special military operation in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The regional government is rolling out programs to help them indeed adapt to civilian life, find jobs, and gain new skills. Nearly 9,000 veterans are already receiving assistance from local organisations.

The Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation is leading the initiative, offering social coordinators to guide veterans through housing, healthcare, and employment needs. Employment centres in the region have already secured jobs for 211 veterans and 210 of their family members. Over 1,000 local businesses have pledged to hire veterans, with more than 13,000 vacancies currently available.

Through the Personnel national project, over 260 veterans have completed retraining programs to meet labour market demands. Additional opportunities include the Ural Management Personnel program for leadership training and the Patriots project, which helps veterans launch their own businesses.

The regional government’s push aims to integrate veterans into the workforce and economy. With thousands of job openings and tailored training schemes, the programs provide concrete pathways for those transitioning from military service. Support for veterans and their families remains a key focus of the initiative.
