Swiss Railways nominates Anna Barbara Remund for leadership role in 2026 transition
The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has proposed Anna Barbara Remund as a new college board member. Her nomination follows approval by the Federal Council and will be put to a vote at the annual general meeting in April 2026. With over 25 years of experience in rail transport and infrastructure, she is expected to play a key role in SBB’s future strategy.
Remund currently serves as deputy director of the Federal Office of Transport, where she leads the Infrastructure Division. She will leave this position on January 31, 2026, ahead of her potential election to the SBB college board. The board itself is also preparing for a leadership change, with Monika Ribar stepping down as chairwoman in spring 2026.
André Wyss, a current college board member and former CEO of construction firm Implenia, has been named as Ribar’s successor. If elected, Remund would bring deep expertise in complex transport projects to the college board. Her background aligns with SBB’s focus on modernising and expanding Switzerland’s rail network.
Remund’s nomination comes at a time of transition for SBB’s leadership. If approved by shareholders, she will join the college board as it implements new strategic priorities. Her appointment would take effect after her departure from the Federal Office of Transport early next year.
