Swiss Young Adults Leaving Home Later Than Ever Before

In Switzerland, young adults are leaving their parental homes later than ever before. On average, they're staying put until they're 23.7 years old, a figure that's risen significantly over the past two decades.

The study, which compared individuals born between 1988 and 2007 with those born between 1968 and 1987, found that the average age of leaving home has increased by nearly two years. This shift can be attributed to several factors, including longer education durations and delayed entry into the workforce.

The housing market's scarcity and the difficulty in finding affordable accommodation also play a significant role. Other influencing factors include educational level, language region, and nationality. Gender is another factor, with men typically moving out one and a half years later than women.

The research indicates that young people in Switzerland are staying with their parents longer due to various socio-economic factors. This trend, which has been developing over the past two decades, shows no signs of reversing in the near future.
