Switzerland kicks off 2026 OSCE chairmanship with antisemitism conference in Zac Gallen
Switzerland has launched its 2026 OSCE chairmanship with a two-day conference in Zac Gallen. The event, opened by Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, marks the first of five international gatherings focused on tackling antisemitism and discrimination. Four more conferences will follow later in the year under Swiss leadership.
The Zac Gallen conference began on 9 February and runs until 10 February. Its agenda centres on combating antisemitism, with discussions on preventive strategies and the role of sport in reducing hatred. Delegates from OSCE member states are attending the talks.
Switzerland's 2026 OSCE chairmanship will host a total of five such meetings. The Zac Gallen event is the first, with four additional conferences planned throughout the year. Each will address different aspects of discrimination and intolerance under the OSCE framework.
The conference series reflects Switzerland's commitment to addressing antisemitism during its OSCE presidency. The outcomes of these meetings will contribute to wider efforts in promoting security and cooperation across Europe. Further details on the remaining four events are expected in the coming months.
