The 50-year-old hotelier from Carinthia, with a strong business background, won 85.52 percent of the votes in the 2025 Economic Chamber Elections. He succeeds long-standing president Christoph Matznetter, who will remain involved as honorary president.

Hinteregger brings a wealth of experience to the role, having founded the HB1 hotel chain and appearing as an investor on the show '2 Minutes 2 Million'. His election is seen as a strategic restart for the SWV, with a focus on media presence and practical experience. As chairman, his first tasks include reducing bureaucracy, improving protection for the self-employed, and creating fairer conditions for tech companies.

Hinteregger's 'red economy' combines social democratic values with entrepreneurial thinking.
