Syktyvkar’s collapsed bridge reopens after swift community-led repairs
Residents of Syktyvkar and local deputies have successfully rebuilt a crucial bridge in the Syktyvdinsky District. The bridge, connecting Sedkyrkeshch and Ozel, Seity, had collapsed on September 22, leaving nearby populations isolated from the mainland. The swift restoration has now fully reopened traffic.
Following the bridge collapse, a state of heightened alert was declared in the Syktyvkar municipal district on September 25. The prompt action was ordered by Rostislav Goldstein, the governor of the region at the time. The full reconstruction of the bridge is planned for next year, with support from the government of the Republic of Komi and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
The temporary deck now covers the bridge, ensuring safe passage for locals and visitors alike. The full restoration hardware project is underway, aiming to further improve the bridge's durability and safety.
