Tampa Sudanese community rallies for peace amid El-Fasher crisis this Saturday
A peace demonstration will take place in Tampa this Saturday to protest the ongoing violence in Sudan. Organised by the Sudanese American Community Association, the event focuses on the crisis in El-Fasher, a city now largely controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. Participants will gather to call for an end to the conflict and honour those affected by the fighting.
The protest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on November 29 at Lykes Gaslight Square Park in downtown Tampa. Organisers have emphasised the importance of a peaceful demonstration, with plans for a moment of remembrance and chants of 'hands off Sudan'. The event aims to highlight the worsening situation in El-Fasher, where the city has been under siege for months.
The protest will bring together Tampa’s Sudanese community and supporters to demand action. With El-Fasher under heavy strain, organisers hope the demonstration will pressure leaders to address the violence. The event also serves as a reminder of the human cost of the conflict, now stretching beyond a year and a half.
