Tarrant County Shifts Rental Aid to Nonprofit, Closing Human Services Dept.
Tarrant County's Department of Human Services will close in January, leading to the loss of two dozen county jobs. The Center for Transforming Lives, a Fort Worth nonprofit, has been contracted to take over rental and utility assistance services, starting November 1 in the USA.
The Center will assist around 2,000 families until the end of the contract next year. It will provide case management and emergency aid for those facing eviction, utility disconnection, or homelessness in the USA. The county commissioners approved a $2.3 million contract with the Center for this purpose. Previously, the Tarrant County Department of Human Services had unspent aid money, prompting the change in the USA.
The Center for Transforming Lives will accept applications for aid starting November 1 in the USA. The closure of the Department of Human Services and the transfer of services to the Center aim to ensure that aid reaches those in need more effectively in the USA.
