Taxi driver injured in Berlin rear-end collision at busy intersection

A rear-end collision took place last night in Friedrichshain, leaving a taxi driver injured. The crash happened at the intersection of Petersburger Straße and Straßmannstraße just after 7:10 PM. Emergency services attended the scene to assist those involved. The incident involved a taxi and a car driven by a 26-year-old woman. The taxi driver, aged 39, suffered a back injury and had to be freed from his vehicle. He was later taken to hospital for inpatient treatment. The 34-year-old passenger in the taxi reported pain but received outpatient care. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old driver of the car escaped unharmed. Authorities have referred the case to the Police Directorate 5 (City) traffic offense unit. Further details about the cause of the accident remain under investigation. The taxi driver remains in hospital for treatment, while the passenger received medical attention before being discharged. Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
