Taxi Fare Dispute in Obertshausen Turns Violent, Passenger Detained
A heated argument over a taxi fare in Obertshausen on Saturday morning led to a police operation and multiple offenses. A 33-year-old passenger and a 39-year-old taxi driver became involved in a physical altercation, with the passenger fleeing into a nearby residential building before being temporarily held by responding officers.
The incident began when the passenger, who couldn't afford the fare, allegedly hit the driver and took cash from him. The driver then used pepper spray in self-defense, which also affected another person in the vehicle. The passenger subsequently fled the scene, leading to a police chase. Authorities are investigating the passenger for suspected robbery, while the driver faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident involving a yellow Mercedes taxi with an 'F' license plate.
The allegedly stolen cash remains missing, and the investigation is ongoing. The 33-year-old passenger remains in temporary detention, with authorities yet to release his identity. The taxi driver awaits charges, and police continue to seek witnesses to provide further information on the incident.
