Taxi, Street-Sweeping Vehicle Collide in Neukölln; Drivers Injured
A serious traffic collision occurred in Neukölln yesterday afternoon, involving a taxi and a BSR street-sweeping vehicle. Both drivers sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Miraculously, two taxi passengers escaped unharmed.
The incident happened at the intersection of Grenzallee and the A100 slip road. A 62-year-old taxi driver, ignoring a red light, turned left onto the slip road. Simultaneously, a 37-year-old man driving a BSR vehicle, with a green arrow signal, turned right onto the same road. The two vehicles collided, resulting in both drivers being injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
The taxi was severely damaged and could not be driven away. The Traffic Offenses Unit of Police Directorate 5 is now investigating the cause of the crash.
The collision highlights the importance of adhering to traffic signals and maintaining safe driving practices. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
