Taxiway realignment contract granted by the Sheridan Commission
Sheridan County Commission Awards Contract for Airport Expansion Project
The Sheridan County Commission has awarded a contract for the Taxiway A and Connectors, GA Taxi Lane Shift, and GA Apron expansion project to Oftedal Construction, Inc. The contract, worth approximately $9.5 million, was awarded in August 2025.
The project, which includes the realignment of Taxiway A and Connectors, the shift of the General Aviation (GA) Taxi Lane, and the expansion of the GA Apron, was the subject of bids from several construction companies. Among these, Oftedal Construction submitted the lowest bid, undercutting the engineer's estimate for the project.
Century Companies and Powder River Construction were among the other companies that submitted bids, but neither managed to secure the contract. Century Companies' bid was higher than Oftedal Construction's, while Powder River Construction's bid was slightly higher than the engineer's estimate.
Robert Gill, the Airport Manager, provided details on the bids and recommended the contract be awarded to Oftedal Construction. The commission voted in favour of this recommendation.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with final paving scheduled for spring 2027. The timeline aligns with typical airport expansion project timelines, which usually span one to two years post-award.
This airport expansion project is a significant development for Sheridan County, and the community looks forward to the benefits it will bring. The project is expected to improve safety, efficiency, and capacity at the airport, enhancing its ability to serve the growing number of passengers and aircraft.
The airport expansion project, overseen by Oftedal Construction, is set to revolutionize the transportation sector in Sheridan County, particularly the aviation industry. This $9.5 million project, which includes the realignment of Taxiway A and Connectors, the shift of the General Aviation Taxi Lane, and the expansion of the GA Apron, is anticipated to boost the local finance industry by attracting more business. Other companies, such as Century Companies and Powder River Construction, also presented bids for this substantial contract, but failed to match Oftedal Construction's competitive offer.
