Teen Charged After Firing Flare Gun at Classmate in Chelyabinsk

A 15-year-old from Chelyabinsk has been charged after firing a flare gun at another teenager

The incident unfolded on the evening of September 21, 2022, near 13 Yuzhnouralskaya Street. Four teenagers approached two young men sitting on a bench. Without warning, one of the group—a 15-year-old—fired a flare gun directly at the face of a 16-year-old.

The shooter later admitted he had meant to frighten his acquaintance, unaware the weapon was loaded. The victim sustained a ruptured tear duct, a moderate concussion, and lasting visual impairment. Doctors classified the injuries as grievous bodily harm. Authorities have now charged the 15-year-old with hooliganism and intentional grievous bodily harm.
