Teen driver crashes into parked car after drinking in Cuxhaven
A 19-year-old driver caused a traffic accident in Cuxhaven late on Saturday night. Police suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol when his car sideswiped another vehicle in a Lüdingworth parking lot. The incident took place in the Lüdingworth district, where the young motorist collided with a 58-year-old man's parked car. Officers at the scene reported smelling alcohol on the driver's breath.
A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of at least 0.10%. As the driver is still in his probationary period, German law enforces a strict zero-tolerance rule for alcohol behind the wheel. Police confiscated his licence immediately and took a blood sample for further testing. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The driver now faces potential charges for driving under the influence during his probationary phase.
The case remains under investigation by Cuxhaven police. The 19-year-old could lose his licence permanently if convicted. His blood sample results will determine the next steps in the legal process.
