Car abandoned without license plate after skidding accident - Teen driver flees icy crash with no plates, later charged with drunk driving
An 18-year-old man has been charged after abandoning his car following a crash in icy conditions. The incident took place in Duingen, where the driver and a passenger fled the scene. Authorities later confirmed the vehicle had no licence plates.
The crash occurred on an icy road, prompting the driver to leave the car behind. Both he and at least one passenger walked away from the accident site. Police later tracked the group down.
During questioning, the driver admitted to driving around 'for fun' after attending a party. His blood alcohol level was measured at 1.36 per mille—well above the legal limit. He also confessed to leaving the scene of the accident.
As a result, his driving licence was immediately confiscated. He now faces charges for drunk driving and failing to stop after the collision. Both the driver and the passenger suffered only minor injuries.
The case will proceed through the legal system, with the driver facing multiple offences. His licence remains suspended, and he could receive further penalties. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks of impaired driving in hazardous conditions.
