Teen loses Mercedes-Benz after reckless crash into Syktyvkar bus stop
A 19-year-old resident of Syktyvkar has been fined and had his Mercedes-Benz confiscated after causing significant damage to a bus stop shelter. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Kommunisticheskaya and Pervomayskaya streets in early June 2025, saw the driver flee the scene after the accident.
The teenager, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz 180, was found guilty of performing a dangerous maneuver. The court, while releasing him from criminal liability, imposed a hefty fine of 60,000 rubles. The vehicle used in the crime, a Mercedes-Benz 180, was also confiscated by the court.
The defendant accepted responsibility for his actions. He compensated the damages, which totaled over 600,000 rubles to the municipal enterprise Dorozhnoye Khozyaistvo, and publicly apologized to the city's residents.
The court's decision serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of reckless driving. The teenager's acceptance of responsibility and compensation for damages demonstrate a level of remorse and accountability.
