Teenagers in custody after irritant gas attack on Berlin bus injures three
Two teenagers are in custody after a distressing incident on a bus in Schöneberg. The 14-year-olds sprayed a 29-year-old woman with irritant gas, causing her to suffer respiratory distress. The incident, which also left two other passengers with breathing difficulties, is being investigated by a specialized unit under Police Directorate 4 (South).
The incident occurred on route 204, heading towards Zoologischer Garten, at the intersection of Leberstraße and Gustav-Müller-Platz. After the attack, the teenagers fled the scene but were later recognized by a passenger on another bus. Emergency services were alerted, and the culprits were apprehended by police. One of the teenagers resisted arrest, injuring two officers in the process.
The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for outpatient treatment. Two other passengers, a 38-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man, also reported breathing difficulties and were treated at the scene. The investigation is being led by the local police department responsible for Schöneberg, with traffic-related aspects handled by the relevant police divisions or the Bußgeldstelle (fine office).
The 14-year-old perpetrators are now in custody, with one facing additional charges for resisting arrest and injuring officers. The investigation continues, with the specialized unit under Police Directorate 4 (South) working to determine the motive and any potential links to other incidents.
