Tej Pratap Yadav to Contest Bihar Assembly Elections from Mahua
Bihar is gearing up for its assembly elections, set to take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. In a significant political move, Tej Pratap Yadav, son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, will contest from Mahua as the candidate of his newly formed Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JSJD).
Tej Pratap Yadav, who previously won from Hasanpur in 2020, had planned to contest from Mahua if not given an RJD ticket. Following his expulsion from RJD in May 2025 due to a controversial social media post, he founded JSJD after being disowned by the Yadav family. The party's election symbol, a blackboard, signifies its emphasis on education and social reform.
Yadav will file his nomination on October 16 and declare candidates for other seats the following day. He has stated that the next CM of Bihar will be decided by the people. Despite speculation, no information is available on which spiritual leader Yadav consulted before his official candidature announcement in Mahua. He also plans to upgrade Mahua into a full-fledged district.
Tej Pratap Yadav's decision to contest from Mahua under the JSJD banner adds an interesting dimension to the Bihar assembly elections. His plans for Mahua's development and his stance on the CM decision are likely to be key talking points in the upcoming campaign.
