Tej Pratap Yadav’s surprise appearance at rival leaders’ dahi chura sparks Bihar alliance rumors

Tej Pratap Yadav, son of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, recently attended a traditional dahi chura ceremony hosted by Bihar’s deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. The event drew attention as it included senior leaders from rival political alliances, sparking discussions about shifting loyalties in the state’s politics.

The ceremony took place at Sinha’s residence in Patna, with prominent figures in attendance. Among them were Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar, deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, JD(U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, and Hindustani Awam Morcha chief Santosh Kumar Suman. Sinha later highlighted the gathering’s importance, stating that all Biharis stood united on the occasion.

Tej Pratap Yadav, who lost the 2025 Bihar Assembly election from Mahua, currently holds no elected position. He remains active in RJD but has not announced plans to contest again. His presence at the event raised eyebrows, especially as he had previously formed his own party, Janshakti Janata Dal, after being expelled from RJD. When questioned about a possible shift to the NDA, Yadav remained noncommittal. His response—*'You will get to know about it in due course'*—left room for speculation. The meeting followed an earlier invitation from Yadav to Sinha for a Makar Sankranti feast, signalling ongoing interactions between the two leaders.

The dahi chura gathering brought together leaders from opposing political camps, with Sinha framing it as a moment of unity. Yadav’s attendance, combined with his vague remarks on joining the NDA, has added to the uncertainty surrounding his political future. The event underscores the fluid nature of alliances in Bihar ahead of upcoming political developments.
